Caring Team – May 10, 2012

Syd Benson gave a report on the Circle of Caring and the 50 Year Luncheon Planning Committee.  The Luncheon will be held Saturday, September 29 at 11:30 a.m.  The committee has decided on a menu and has people ready to help.  Some Circle of Caring crafts are still available for delivery.

A brief summary of the April Congregational Council meeting was given.

Most of our meeting was a discussion of our church-sponsored Ice Cream Social during the Community Band Concert on Friday, June 22.  Medith Davis will be the organizer and the rest of our committee will help her recruit bakers and workers.  Kelly Charnley will work on publicity and fliers for the Messenger.  We expect lots of support from our church members.

Our next meeting will be a week early:  Wednesday, June 6 at 7:00 in the Library.  This will give us time to complete plans for the Ice Cream Social.

Caring Team – Jan. 2012

The Caring Leadership Team met on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in the church library.  Pastor Neal led the group in an opening prayer.  The November minutes were approved and the financial statement reviewed.

Members of the team spent some time discussing possible candidates for team membership for the 2012 year.  Several names were suggested and these people will be contacted regarding serving.  Syd Benson gave a complete review of the services of the Circle of Caring and then the team discussed the possibility of launching a new project for the coming year.

It was decided the Lenten Dinners will be changed to Lenten Desserts followed by Lenten workshops/study groups which will be sponsored by other teams.  Elly Aberegg and Nancy Montgomery volunteered to set up a schedule for providing and serving the desserts.  The first Lenten Dessert night will be Wednesday, Feb 29th.

Caring Team – No Oct. Mtg

The Caring Leadership team will not hold a meeting in October.  We have had a very busy summer,

have reviewed the budget for 2012 and since there are no activities coming up,

we have elected to reconvene in November.  Please consider joining  the Caring

Team in its outreach efforts. You may speak to any of the following Team members about how

you can add a special touch to those in need of loving care :

Caring Team – August 10, 2011

Syd Benson opened the August meeting with prayer.  The team discussed the success of the August picnic chaired by Medith and Elly; held prior to the concert by the Homeland Singers.  Eighty-eight persons signed the sign-up form and approximately 135 attended.  A large number of desserts were donated by members of the church – - many attendees commented on the quality of the food.  Thanks to Medith and Elly for organizing and overseeing this event.  Plans for the picnic following “Alive on the Square” were finalized.  It was agreed to accept a free-will offering for the food instead of charging as in the past.  Plans are being made for the 50+ Year Luncheon which is coming up September 24th.

The Caring Leadership Team thanks Marilyn Canfield and her faithful helper Don Canfield for being the Coffee Hour coordinator for several years.  Marilyn has been committed to her task and done a wonderful job of providing resources for the coffee hour following the 10:30 Sunday service.   We appreciate her dedication and all the coffee hours she and Don hosted when no one else was available.
The new Coffee Hour coordinators are Lorna Lindsley and Ruth Gifford.  Let them know when you can host a coffee hour.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, September 14th at 7:00pm in the Church Library

Caring Team July 2011

The Caring Leadership Team held its July meeting on Wednesday the 13th.  Three faithful members were in attendance, Medith Davis, Nancy Montgomery and Jan Holt along with Pastor Neal Sadler and guest Deb Waldron.

Deb shared information regarding the Market America Shopping Portal that she has set up where members, family and friends can shop and the church will receive a royalty check.  A recent check for $90.00+ was received.

The Homeland Singers will be performing for us on Sunday, August 7th following a combined worship at 10:00am and a picnic featuring grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.  Medith Davis and Elly Aberegg  are preparing the menu.   The Alive on the Square picnic to be held September 11, 2011 was discussed.  We will follow the same procedures of previous years.

Caring Team Notes 6/8/2011

CARING LEADERSHIP TEAM
The Caring Leadership Team held their June 8, 2011 meeting in the church library.  Nancy Montgomery opened the meeting with prayer.  The May minutes were corrected and approved.  Financial updates were reviewed.  The Prayer Chain was discussed and reorganized removing members who can no longer serve and adding new members.  Medith gave a progress report on the Ice Cream Social to be held June 24th on Public Square.  Kelly Charnley presented information on donations committed to date and details on the execution of the Ice Cream Social.  A total of 40 pies are being requested and volunteers to work the evening of the event are needed.  A complete donor list will appear in the Sunday morning bulletins leading up to the social.
The Homeland Singers, a Southern Gospel Singing Group will present a concert on Sunday, August 7th.  (Cindy Korecky’s brother is a member of the gospel group.)  The Caring Leadership Team under the leadership of Medith Davis and Elly Aberegg will host a “parking lot picnic” following morning worship and prior to the concert.   The menu was discussed.  There will be no charge for the concert nor the meal – -a free will offering will be taken.  Reserve the date and plan to join us for fellowship and fun.

Caring Team Update – May 11, 2011

Caring Leadership Team

Medith Davis opened the May Caring Leadership Team meeting with prayer.  Suggested changes in the Lenten supper and the Confirmation reception formats were discussed.  These will be further discussed with Pastor Neal.

Leadership for the prayer chain is immediately needed; new leadership for the coffee hour for 2012 will be needed.     Beth Hari and Deb Waldron will coordinate the 50 Year Luncheon to be held on September 24, 2011.   Medina UCC has been granted the date of June 24, 2011 to host an Ice Cream Social on the Square in conjunction with the summer band concerts.  Leadership for this event is being confirmed.  Volunteers from the congregation for either event will be gratefully appreciated. 

It was announced that there will be a combined service on August 6, 2011 at 10:00 featuring a Christian Music group.  A lunch, organized by the Caring Team, will follow the service.  The next meeting will be held Wed., June 8, 2011 at 7:00pm in the church library.
