GOOD NEIGHBORS-REVISED!
The much loved and much needed “Good Neighbors” program to help provide a meal to those UCC members in need has been renovated! There will no longer be a sign-up list asking for volunteers to provide a meal for a specific week. Amanda Hover is now coordinating this offering. She is gathering a short list of volunteers that she can contact if a meal is needed and she is not able to provide a meal herself that week. Please call 330-635-3714 or email thehovers@hotmail.com if you would like to be placed on her list of volunteers for this program so she can contact you directly.
SUPPLY OFFICER NEEDED
Are you interested in volunteering for your church in a job that requires no meetings! Do you like order, systems, and structure? If the answer is yes, we have a job for you! There is a need for one person to be a supply officer. Yes — you will be the person in charge of the supplies (excluding office supplies) that we use every day at the church.
Your job would be to inventory, purchase, order, and coordinate the paper products, the trash bags, paper towels, paper plates, etc., that are stored in 2 locations in the church — downstairs and in the kitchen supply closet. You would report to members of the Building and Grounds Committee. Time involved? Minimal. Your task is to check out needed items and assure their presence for our church family.
Interested? Please contact the church office at 725-4559.

DON’T FORGET!
Next Sunday, August 7th
Unified Service, Picnic and Concert
Schedule
10:00   Unified Worship Service –
     Youth Mission Trip
11:00   Picnic in Church Courtyard –
             All are invited!
11:30   Southern Gospel Concert –
             Homeland Singers

On Sunday, August 7th, we gather as one congregation to worship, eat and celebrate.  We begin with worship led by our youth as they tell us about their work on their mission trip to Philadelphia.  Following worship we share a picnic lunch with grilled hamburgers and hot dogs in our courtyard.  And then, still in the courtyard, we continue the enjoyment by listening to the toe-tapping music of the Southern Gospel group, The Homeland Singers.
The seven men and women of The Homeland Singers come to us from Salisbury, Maryland.  Their latest recording is “Just Another Hill.”   Their southern gospel rhythms and harmonies will lead us in a joyful proclamation of the good news of Jesus.
A free-will offering will be taken to cover the cost of the picnic and the concert.  Please call the church office (330-725-4559) or sign up in the East Room or outside the kitchen.  Please let us know if you can bring a dessert by marking on the sign up sheet.
Invite Family, Friends and Neighbors!
DRAINAGE PROJECT TO BEGIN
Building and Grounds intends to complete the foundation drainage and storm water project this summer. Given all the activity in the church the only time we can do this is during the month of August so here is what we expect.
The drainage project should be completed in two weeks if everything goes smoothly. As soon as possible in the first week of August a 5ft wide trench will be cut in the driveway from the catch basin to the driveway radius at the courtyard and the door pad at the entrance to HHP will be removed. We will start trenching at the catch basin and move to and around the north and west sides of the building. This should give us the best chance of dealing with any rains that occur during the construction period and enable us to get everything back to normal as soon as possible.
Note that for at least the first two weeks in August the Handicap entrance through HHP will not be usable, and that the capacity of our parking lot will be limited and that the drive through feature of our parking lot may not be available.
Also, on the evenings of August 8 – 10 all tile floors will be top scrubbed and waxed as last year. The lower hall and the community room will be done on the 9th. The upper hall, kitchen and fellowship hall should then be completed on the 10th.
On August 11th (during the day) the carpets in the HHP class rooms, the foyer, HHP office and nursery will be cleaned as will the area carpets in rooms 7, 8, 9/10 and the open area in room 6.
Clearly there will be a lot going on during August. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the upheaval.

INDIANS BASEBALL GAME DAY!
SATURDAY, AUGUST 13th @ 7:05
That’s right!  We are planning an All Church Baseball day.  If you would like to join us for an evening of baseball, we will be going down to watch the Tribe take on the Twins at Progressive Field
at a 7:05pm game on Aug. 13th.
The cost of the tickets will be $12.00.
We will meet at the church at 5:30pm to car pool to the stadium.  Please sign up on the sheets
in the East Room or by Fellowship Hall if you wish to join us or you may contact Crell Johns
at
330-725-6809 or email: stloucj@gmail.com. Deadline to sign up is Sunday August 7th.

MEDITATION Mary G. Keck

ONE TIME RIGHTS
“Such As I Have, I Give. . .”

“I can pick up your shoes for you from the shoe shop and bring them to you,” my friend suggested. “It’s just as easy as coming for you to go to get them.”

“Oh, thank you!” I said gratefully. One of her nicest qualities is the thoughtful way she shares her time. It seems as natural to her as breathing. No matter what else is happening in the family, she gives the gift of her time.

“I picked raspberries along the pasture this morning!” Sara announced gleefully as she set a little jar of ruby-colored jelly on the table

Now, July sun is hot, and mosquitoes bite, but Sara enjoyed the time from farm duties. The fragrance of simmering fruit and the sight of smiling faces is ample reward. She also believes in sharing what she creates, so sets aside a portion: a woven mat, a painted note card, or perhaps some freshly-baked buns. These are for an unexpected visitor or someone in need. St Peter’s words are Sara’s ways.

Our friend is recovering from facial cancer surgery, which involved skin grafting. She’s not sure when she’s going “out and about,” and she was not happy to hear the doorbell. There stood a delivery lady from Buehler’s Floral Shop with a lovely “get well soon” arrangement.

“What happened to you!” she gasped, and our friend explained.

“Victory is on your side,” the young woman pronounced, smiled, and left. Her reassuring words stayed behind with our delighted friend. They’ll probably be with her forever!
