The same study is being offered in the afternoon and the evening, and we will meet in rooms 9 & 10. Please come. No prior bible study experience required!
ARE YOU MISSING THINGS FROM YOUR KITCHEN?
There are several plates and pans collecting above the coat rack in the hallway. If any of them belong to you, please take them home.
GOOD NEIGHBORS LIST
I am trying to compile a Good Neighbor’s list. I would like to keep a list of volunteers so that I can call them or email them if meals are needed. I know that it is not always convenient so please don’t worry if you can’t do a meal if I call. It seems lately that sometimes a volunteer will sign up for the week and we do not have anyone who needs a meal. Then there are weeks where I have multiple families that need meals and no volunteer. If you would still like to sign up for a week, that is great, but I would really like to have a list of people to call on for those crazy weeks when I might need extra volunteers or if we have a week without a volunteer. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who have helped the people of our church when they were in need.
Please call Debi Peterson (330) 723-0898 or email to dpkids3@zoominternet.net
METRO CHORUS CONCERT
The Cleveland Metropolitan Chorus will be performing in our sanctuary on Sunday October 19, at 2:00 pm. Many of its members are part of the Cleveland Orchestra Choir that performs at Severance Hall. The choir will be singing classical sacred music and spiritual song for free at this concert. The Music Committee and Chancel Choir will be hosting this event and providing a post concert reception in fellowship hall. Plan to attend this musical program.
BOOKDRIVE: THANK YOU!
I want to thank everyone for bringing in all of the great books for the book drive over the summer months. Your generosity has touched so many children’s lives in our community. I wish you could see the smiles on their little faces. It would really touch your heart. The last day of the book drive will be on October 16th. Thank you for your tremendous support.

FAMILY FUN AT BOYERT’S
Sunday October 19th
One of the most anticipated events of the year is just around the corner. The annual fall hayride is on Sunday, October 19th at Boyert’s from 5-8 pm. The cost for the Hayride is $6.00 for 6 & under, $10.00 for every one else. This cost covers; cider, apple, hayride, a pumpkin from the patch & s’mores and lots of other great fall fun. We will also have a bonfire and be roasting hotdogs. You need to sign up for this event and pay in advance. There is a sign up sheet outside of fellowship hall. Make checks payable to Medina UCC and put hayride in the memo. You can give your money to Stacie Yates or you can place it in her mailbox in the church office. We had a great time last year and are looking forward to another great year. We hope to see all of you there.
REVERSE TRICK OR TREAT
Trick-or –Treat time is quickly approaching us which also means that Reverse Trick-or-Treat time is here too. This is a wonderful event where the youth of our church dress in their costumes and take a gift, that has been made by the craft group, to a homebound member of our church and visit with them. It is a truly rewarding experience for everyone involved and an event that our homebound members look forward to every year. If you would like to participate in this wonderful opportunity, please sign up outside of fellowship hall. If you have any questions, please contact Stacie Yates.
PARENT’S NIGHT OUT
Saturday, October 25 5-9 pm
Hey parents! I know we all love our children dearly, but there are times when we need a break. Are you ready for a break? The Senior High youth group has just the answer for you. They would like to give you a night out and at the same time entertain your child/children with a Halloween party. We are in the initial planning stages, but here are some of the details. The date is set for Saturday, October 25 from 5-9 pm. The children could come dressed in their costumes if they would like to. We will have games and activities for them to do along with a snack. We will also have a movie to show them towards the end of the evening. The cost would be $10 per child and children ages 3-5th grade could attend. There will be a sign up sheet out at the beginning of October. Keep watching for updates in the messenger.
NOTE OF THANKS
I would like to thank Rev. Sadler and all of you for all of your prayers and support during my time of recovery. So many of you have helped to make a difficult time easier. Your acts of kindness and support will never be forgotten. You have brought rainbows and sunshine back into my life.
May God bless you all………….. Anna Kinder
MEDITATION by Carol Wilcox
Meditation Journey
So! We go to worship, and there we find God’s grace and his loving kindness. We then go out into our worlds to serve our neighbors with love.(Gal.5:13)
What does it mean to love? First we are to love God and our neighbors as ourselves. (Mat. 22:37-39). O.K.,so far. But then, we are to love our enemies, as well as our brothers.(Mat.5:43-480, “without hypocrisy”(Rom.12:90, in deed and truth (I John 3:18). Love is the bond uniting all Christian virtues (Col.3:14).
In Cor.13 (another favorite ),if we have all kinds of gifts and understanding, speak eloquently, and indeed, all faith, feed the hungry, but have not love, we are nothing. We are to have patience, enduring kindness and no envy or pride . No self centeredness, have an even temper and not think evil. Then, and only then, do we truly love.
Wow! Some task for us frail beings. Sure, we’ll fail along the way, being human, but
what it requires, as I see it, is for us to constantly renew our closeness to God -in worship, prayer and in studying His Word.
A former minister at my previous church, who had accomplished much, in missionary work, in founding this church and in many other involvements in God’s work, said the time he spent tending to his dying wife was the most blessed and loving act of his life.
(For further renewal, read Cor.13)
WOMEN WRITING WOMEN
If you are a woman who wants to spread understanding in our world, consider participating in Women Writing Women. This “homegrown” program began in Medina, and now sends letters of friendship from all over the U.S. to Muslim women in the Middle East. All it takes is 20-30 minutes of your time to write a short letter. The next deadline is October 15. For more information and letter writing hints, contact Jean Linderman at jeanrl@zoominternet.net or 330-723-5063
